#4 Polaroid 2019 – Movie Review

There are many stories of possessed objects. What if you would have found an old polaroid camera that was possessed by a tortured spirit…

Movie description:

Polaroid is an American paranormal horror film that was directed by Lars Klevberg and was released on January 10, 2019. The screenplay is by Blair Butler which was adapted from a short movie by the same name that was also by Lars Klevberg. The cast includes Kathryn Prescott, Tyler Young, Samantha Logan, Keenan Tracey, and Mitch Pileggi.

Synopsis:

When Bird, a teen with a passion for photography, receives an old polaroid camera from her friend Tyler, she is far from imagining the horror that will ensue her photographic sessions. Soon after taking pictures of her friends, a mysterious entity starts killing them. Subsequently, she learns that the polaroid camera is possessed by the tormented spirit of an evil serial killer who used it to capture some macabre images of his victims. In order to save herself and her friends, Bird will have to confront the dreaded entity.

Praises and critiques:

First and foremost, Polaroid was a good paranormal horror movie to watch. There were a few tense scenes but it was not that scary. The storyline of this film was fine but somewhat predictable. As for the cast, they did a decent job adding some betterment to this motion picture.

Furthermore, the visual effects were well done when it came to the malevolent entity. Overall, this movie was good to watch but is lacking a little something that could allow it to be scarier.

Recommendations:

I recommend this movie to fans of the teen-scream and paranormal subgenre because I think that it aims for a young adult audience.

Rating:

I think that this movie deserves 3.5 stars because of its lack of originality and it wasn’t that scary.

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

  1. It sounds like Polaroid is one of those movies that isn’t bad but also isn’t great. I would watch it if I’d run out of other things to watch, so I’m glad you shared it with us.

  3. This Polaroid 2019 movie review made me curious. It seems like one of those scary movies that keep your interest the entire time but isn’t completely fulfilling. So you have to watch it again before deciding whether or not it ends up in your collection.

  4. I hadn’t heard of Polaroid before reading this review. Although I am usually not a fan of the horror genre, the storyline does sound interesting. I would probably give it a go to see how it plays out on the screen.

  6. I actually think horror movies just aren’t as scary as they were back in the day. However, I have never watched paranormal horror movies even though I’ve always wanted to when I was younger.

  9. The plot sounds really interesting. But I’m not a fan of the Scream movies, so I’m wondering if I would actually enjoy this movie. Since it is on Netflix, it will be added to my watch list though. Definitely sounds like it is worth giving it a try. Thanks for giving me a movie to watch while I’m crocheting.

  10. Thank you for this cause I wanted to watch this movie (been trying to convince my fiancé who hates horror movies) but now I’m not even going to waste my time. Dang, I wanted it to be good!

  11. Oh wow, this sounds like a great premise for a horror movie. My husband and I have just been talking about what to watch this weekend (it’s Family Day weekend here in Canada), so I think this is going to have to find its way onto the viewing list lol!
